It’s a New Year!
Hello,
Welcome to the new schoolyear. I have spent the first week getting to know my students a bit better–it has been a really enjoyable kick-off. They are awesome. I am still learning their names, and drinking in their personalities, but I hope to have a name locked in for every face by the end of this week.
So far, we have worked on establishing a community in each class by reviewing not only my classroom procedures (CHAMPS) and school-wide PRIDE, but in talking about establishing a space of mutual respect and support for each other within my classroom. They have completed a READING INVENTORY, a LEARNING INVENTORY, and worked on a collage for their WRITER’S NOTEBOOK. On Monday, they will introduce themselves while showcasing their creative covers for their WN. The WRITER’S NOTEBOOK will be a place for their personal writing this year.
Next week we will begin on literary terms.
